Governor Rick Scott Appoints Six to Board of Athletic Training

Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced five appointments and one reappointment to the Board of Athletic Training.

James T. Watson, 56, of Tallahassee, is an athletic trainer and community outreach coordinator at Tallahassee Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy. He succeeds Barry Clements and is appointed for a term beginning July 30, 2013, and ending October 31, 2015.

Nicholas A. Pappas, 60, of Tallahassee, is an athletic trainer with Florida State University. He fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning July 30, 2013, and ending October 31, 2015.

Heather L. VanOpdorp, 34, of Land O’ Lakes, is an associate athletic trainer and instructor at the University of Tampa. She is reappointed for a term beginning July 30, 2013, and ending October 31, 2014.

Billy J. “Bo” McDougal, 56, of Jacksonville, is an athletic trainer and assistant athletic director at Jacksonville University. He succeeds Dr. Angela Sehgal and is appointed for a term beginning July 30, 2013, and ending October 31, 2014.

Dr. Randy S. Schwartzberg, 48, of Winter Springs, is an orthopedic surgeon with the Orlando Orthopedic Center. He succeeds Dr. George Caldwell, Jr. and is appointed for a term beginning July 30, 2013, and ending October 31, 2015.

James B. Hudson, 49, of St. Petersburg, is the managing director of Kforce Healthcare. He succeeds Gerardo Gomez and is appointed for a term beginning July 30, 2013, and ending October 31, 2014.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
